Ensuring surfaces are sanitized is playing an important role in society right now, and steel might be one of the most common surfaces found within our communities. From hospitals to grocery stores and other essential public places, stainless steel surfaces are a commonplace material.
As such, Absolute Fabrication wanted to help the public address the need on ‘How to Sanitize Stainless Steel’. It’s easier than you might think and highly efficient!
Stainless Steel – Durable and Easy to Clean
Stainless steel is an amazingly durable material used in many products, including: shelving, refrigeration and cooking equipment, checkout stands, medical instruments and bedrails, and much more.
Sterilizing stainless steel surfaces is highly important in order to remove bacteria or viruses that may be present – and sterilization will remove all living organisms if done correctly.
Stainless Steel Cleaning Methods
Dishwasher Method …for items small enough to put in a dishwasher – this is a great way to clean them. But before putting stainless steel items in the dishwasher, be sure to remove surface food in order to ensure the full cleaning benefits, and sterilization of your product. Also, be sure to wash your items at a high temperature with dishwasher detergent, providing you with full sterilization quickly and efficiently.
Isopropyl Alcohol Method …find an empty spray bottle that has been previously run through the dishwasher, fill it with isopropyl alcohol (also known as rubbing alcohol), and use this generously on stainless steel surfaces. DO NOT dry immediately, rather, wait 20 minutes then use a cloth dampened with rubbing alcohol, and wipe down your steel items again. After that, dry with a paper towel or a clean, soft, moisture absorbing cloth.
